SHELLEY-ANN AREGBESOLA
PRESIDENT, TOOLBOX HEALTH
After decades in the payments industry, I am excited to be re-united with Jeff Shavitz, my partner and friend of 25 years in starting Toolbox Health.
I have a long history in start-up credit card processing companies as I was the 1st employee at Charge Card Systems Inc. Our company grew from just a few of us to over 500 salespeople and eventually was sold to First Data, one of the largest payment companies in the world in 2012.
As our company experienced exponential growth, I was involved in all aspects of the business helping to board over 20,000 merchants in a variety of industry types. During our CCS days, our expertise was initially working with traditional and conventional merchants; however, as we grew into one of the larger independent companies in the USA, we expanded our services to “high risk merchants” – thus, the launch of Toolbox Health.
My wide-ranging responsibilities in all facets of the merchant services industry coupled with my technology background have helped AMP significantly grow as we continue to help “hard to place” and “high risk” merchants both in the USA as well as offshore.
Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, I moved to Florida in 1992. I completed my Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems at Miami Dade Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree at Florida Atlantic University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Computer Information Systems.
In addition to founding AMP 20+ years ago, I has an extensive payment processing background, having started several merchant service companies. My business path has gone from corporate America to becoming an entrepreneur and independent business owner in the payment processing industry.
Following college, I worked as an Investment Banker at Lehman Brothers in the Corporate Finance/Mergers & Acquisitions Group and specialized in transactions ranging from $500 million – $1 billion.
Although working 80-100 hours, I didn’t feel vested in the deals, and this wasn’t what I wanted in my professional life.
I deferred business school and decided to leave my fast-paced, well-paying position to start Charge Card Systems Inc, a 2-person business selling credit card processing services (the acceptance of Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) to local businesses in New York City.
Fast forward – our company grew to over 500 sales agents with 3 regional offices. In 2012, our business was sold to Card Connect, their largest acquisition at that time; in 2017, the company was acquired by First Data for $750 MM.
During my journey within the payment processing industry, I have started several niche payments companies in addition to AMP that include:
